Colostrum and Cholesterol

Dear consumer,

Bovine colostrum does not contain any cholesterol and can be safely used by individuals with high serum cholesterol and high triglycerides. In fact, there are two substances in colostrum that could actually be beneficial to people with elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels, particularly if they exercise. Colostrum contains a hormonelike substance known as leptin that orchestrates how our body uses and incorporates fatty acids. Leptin works in concert with insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), which is another hormonelike substance found in colostrum. IGF-1 is the triggering substance for a whole superfamily of 87 proteins that control most of the processes in every cell in the body. One of the major functions is regulation of the metabolic pathway by which the body converts glucose (sugar) to glycogen. Glycogen is stored in the muscles and the liver and is the main source of energy when the muscles are exercised. Another major function of IGF-1 and the superfamily is regulating how cells use amino acids to build proteins. Therefore, IGF-1 and the superfamily and leptin direct the energy source, the building of muscle and burning of fat when we exercise. The result is a leaner body mass with less stored fat.
This all works very well when we are young, but, unfortunately, as we age the amount of IGF-1 available in our body diminishes, a process that begins at about age 30. Thus, it becomes very advantageous to supplement the levels of IGF-1 in our body and to be sure that enough leptin is also available. Bovine colostrum is the ideal source for this purpose. However, it is very important to recognize that not all colostrum products are capable of delivering sufficient quantities of biologically active IGF-1 and leptin, along with other beneficial substances. Many of the products do not contain true complete colostrum despite what the manufacturer may claim. I have personally been responsible for testing of several different brands of colostrum for human use and can attest that the results prove that the products distributed by Immune-Tree contain the highest quality bovine colostrum available today.

To your good health - always.

Sincerely,
